Several stroke patients, physiotherapists, occupational therapists and the health promotion team joined to deliver a stroke awareness event this November. A wealth of information was available, varying from the identification of a stroke to rehabilitation and life after stroke.

COPD Awareness Day, 15th November 2017

Health Promotion supported the Breathe Easy Society (Charity No. 263) in a campaign marking World COPD Awareness Day. Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) is the name used to describe a number of lung conditions caused by the narrowing of the airways; conditions include emphysema, chronic bronchitis and chronic asthma.

World Diabetes Day, 14th November 2017

The campaign this year was supported by several diabetic nurse specialists, and the theme set by the International Diabetes Federation focused on ‘Women and Diabetes’. The importance of access to health care and better education to manage or prevent diabetes appears a global issue for women.
