Mental Health Awareness Day, 10th October 2016

Mental Health Awareness Day, 10th October 2016

A collaborative campaign was carried out on October 10th to mark the World Mental Health Awareness Day; the aim being to raise awareness and mobilise support for mental health issues.

‘The Day provides an opportunity for all stakeholders working on mental health issues to talk about their work, and what more needs to be done to make mental health care a reality for people worldwide.’ (World Health Organisation 2016)

Clubhouse Gibraltar, the GHA Health Promotion Unit, the Psychological Support Group and the Care Agency joined to celebrate World Mental Health Day. The theme this year was Psychological First Aid. Information, free leaflets, anti-stress colouring pages, and activities to improve mental health were available on the day.

The pitch was also attended by Social workers from the adult social services team, representatives from the Department of Equality, and both the Ministers for Health and Equality.

Health Promotion Officer Daya Dewfall ran the Solent Half Marathon on October 9th raising more than £500  in Aid of Clubhouse Gibraltar.
