Earth Hour Day, 26th March 2022
Earth Hour is an annual campaign marked at 8:30 pm on the last Saturday of March. Supporters in countries across the globe unite, taking action on and raising awareness on the issues facing our collective home. This year’s theme is: ‘For us and Future Generations….’ It seeks to inspire more positive futures given the difficult months and challenging news stories currently hitting the headlines. The campaign seeks to encourage people to have hope and play an active role in shaping their future.
“Disconnect to Reconnect” is a local initiative marking the day, and there are many stakeholders from various health promoting organisations. Spending time in nature is known to generate a multitude of positive emotions, and lower feelings of anxiety or depression. Being physically active also has the same effects, but further boosts self-esteem and cognitive functioning.
