Prevent coughs and colds this Christmas

Prevent coughs and colds this Christmas

Viruses can live for many hours on hard surfaces and so practising good hand hygiene can limit the spread of germs and transmission of flu. Catch your coughs and sneezes in a tissue, bin them, and then wash your hands to kill any lingering germs. If soap and water is unavailable, alcohol-based hand sanitizers that contain at least 60% alcohol are a good alternative for hand cleaning (but remember, hand sanitizers are not as effective when hands are visibly drippy and dirty!).

Practising good hand hygiene is the best way to prevent the spread of colds and flu. Moreover, giving eligible people the flu vaccine is the best way to protect individual health and the health of those around us.

If you haven’t yet had your flu vaccine but wish to do so, visit the Primary Care Centre, Flu Clinic: Monday to Friday, 2pm – 4pm.
