International Day for Head and Neck Cancer

Today is the International Day for Head and Neck Cancer; the Head and Neck clinical nurse team from the Gibraltar Health Authority are raising awareness.

Reduce your risk: Quit smoking (and avoid secondhand smoke) this is the single largest risk factor. You should also, reduce your risk of contracting HPV (by practising safe sex), practice good dental hygiene, eat a nutritious healthy diet, and pay attention to any changes in your body with age seeking interventions early if you have concerns.

Know the signs: Look for swellings you may have not noticed before (that do not disappear when you stretch the skin), patches on the tongue/ in the mouth or a sore throat that doesn’t improve, difficulty chewing or swallowing… read more
