International Day of Older Persons

International Day of Older Persons

This yearly campaign highlights the importance of care and attention to the older generation; it emphasises the expanding contributions of older people in their families and stresses the importance of meeting their needs, rights and preferences.

The number of older persons worldwide is set to increase by 56% by 2030, to more than 1.4 billion. The UN stress the importance of acknowledging the “often overlooked and under-appreciated contributions of older persons“, not just for their well-being but also to ensure we  reach sustainable development goals.
