Change4Life – Cheap and easy lunchbox ideas your kids will love!
Kids are now back to school! To help you get back into the daily routine, C4L have uploaded several tips and affordable suggestions to build your kid’s tasty lunchbox.
See some of their suggestions below:
Keep them fuller for longer
Base the lunchbox on foods like bread, rice, pasta and potatoes. Choose wholegrain where you can, and if your children aren’t keen try and mix the wholegrain in (e.g. a slice of white bread and a slice of wholegrain/brown).
Wraps and sandwiches can be more exciting for kids when they get to put them together, try to get them involved in the lunch making process. Dipping foods are also fun and make a change from a sandwich each day.
Always add veg
Adding salad to a sandwich will help towards their 5 a day. Cherry tomatoes, or sticks of carrot, cucumber, celery and peppers are also good finger foods that kids enjoy. Adding a small pot of reduced-fat hummus or other dips may help encourage your child to eat vegetables.
Swap the sweets
Swap cakes, chocolate, cereal bars and biscuits for malt loaf, fruited teacakes, fruit breads or fruit (fresh, dried or tinned – in juice not syrup).
Variety is key!
Get creative and try to mix up what goes in their lunchbox.
