COVID-19 – Antibiotics

The new coronavirus (covid-19) is a virus and as antibiotics only work on bacterial infections, they should not be used as a means of prevention or treatment. However, if you are hospitalized for coronavirus, you may receive antibiotics if a bacterial co-infection is present.

Taking antibiotics when you don’t need them increases the risk of anti-microbial resistance. Read more here.
